Auxiliary System Components for Northrop Grumman, Palmdale

Padden Design Engineering is currently supporting the design, analysis, and qualification testing of Auxiliary Systems Components for a new special program at Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, Palmdale, CA. The program will produce several developmental units for flight, ground, and structural qualification testing.

Our team solved several key program challenges with the Auxiliary System Components by providing creative design solutions to assist in the rapid delivery schedule. As part of the detail design phase engineering lab testing was performed by the team to validate fluid flow requirements in the system. The resultant test data was used by the design team to refine the design and analysis of the components to meet specification requirements. The team at PaddenDE also provided assistance in the design of the surrounding support structural components as part of a system requirements change.

The program has successfully passed the critical design review and is entering into the qualification test phase. As part of the qualification testing, test articles will undergo centrifugal testing in a large diameter spin test rig to develop the required “G-loads” for structural validation of the design.
